Letter from Carol Borer, MV Commission to OB Selectmen and Board of Health- conducted site visit 8/21/85
- little or no flushing as incoming tidal current increased, the same water flowing out of pond would return to pond
- barrier beach is unstable - numerous washover areas, lack of vegetation
- recommended removal of sand from outlet channel, removal of rocks near culvert, stabilization of barrier beach with dune construction, sand fencing and plantings, also deepening of Harts Harbor from footbridge northward
- need documentation and evaluation - vegetation, dune erosion, dune height, slumping, beach width, water flow, etc.
- the beach must be stabilized - otherwise continued sand removal not worth the effort
